St. Luke's Emergency Department Expansion

St. Luke’s sought to expand and update its emergency department due to age, location, configuration, and limited treatment areas. St. Luke’s desired a space that offered privacy, comfort, and safety. Cutting-edge technology and an environment that would streamline care were also important. These goals were part of St. Luke’s Health Forward Initiative to support its vision in being a provider and partner of choice for the region.

Completed in phases, the updated emergency department triples its original capacity. The 37-room facility offers a streamlined registration process, improved patient and staff flow, an observation unit, and dedicated behavioral health space. To promote faster access to emergency care, the design includes an adjacent ambulance garage and helipad. To offer the region’s most technologically advanced cardiac care, an additional phase of work included adding catheterization labs, CT scanners, and a cardiac rehabilitation gym. These innovative spaces, combined with a patient-centered approach, allow St. Luke’s to continue offering the high-quality, compassionate care that it is known for.
