Central Maine Medical Center

Central Maine Healthcare sought to develop a strategic master facility plan that would assist in strengthening its ambulatory network as well as improve the Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) campus. The primary goal was to develop an aligned, cohesive, programmatic, and patient-focused strategy across the organization’s service area. Challenges included limited capacity for additional ambulatory services on the CMMC campus, aging infrastructure, and building obsolescence. Key components of the master planning study included maximizing utilization of current facilities and moving toward bed privatization, consolidation of cancer care services, creation of growth recommendations, and assessment of Central Maine Healthcare’s ambulatory operational model.
